Given the recent rush of hecklers to the forum it occurred to me that this would be a good time to explain the "blame the victim" tactic that cults use against critics.
In order to distract members from the charges levelled by the critic the cult concocts a false explanation for the person's criticism that makes it the critic's fault.
In chiropractic since the entire system revolves around being successful at ripping people off the charge usually is that critics are practice failures who are somehow trying to get revenge on the profession. This is very useful to the cult because it prevents people from investigating the specific charges (like a thought stopping method) and helps to galvanize the group around the critic.

I noticed in school that everyone about to graduate had an unbelievably sweet associateship deal lined up. If I ever saw them after they graduated, they were invariably getting $crewed, and couldn't wait for the contract to end so they could go into solo practice. I resolved to go straight to solo practice.
After graduation, I noticed that everyone in solo practice who had graduated in the last 10-15 years was struggling or on the verge of bankruptcy, except a tiny percentage who were making out like bandits. These were invariably either fools, who really believed what the PM guys were telling them, or crooks, who knew it was a lie and didn't care. So I couldn't make a living at chiropractic because I couldn't decide whether to be a crook or a fool.

dkdc,

I wrote nearly the same thing in 2007!

Later I learned that this was not possible without exposure to expert faculty and actual patients. Refusing to be a quack or a thief, I had serious doubts about whether to remain a chiropractor. |
